On Thursday, we celebrated the conclusion of another successful Rising Fellowship. Congratulations to Rosalie Diaz, Erin Meechan, Amber Cook, and Ruja Bista!
From July to September, these Fellows studied the history and technique of community organizing and issue advocacy. They learned about local and state civics. They attended town halls, canvassed for renters’ rights, and registered voters. They built relationships with local activists, public officials, and community members. And they played a critical role in teaching East Portlanders about the new voting and representation systems that will shape how their city is run.
It’s been an exciting few months, and we can’t wait to see what they will do next. We look forward to working with them, and our other Rising Fellowship alumni, on campaigns and projects for years to come.
